Stone carving in Dashi
Dashi Wo, Fangshan District, Beijing, is rich in stone resources, with excellent quality and many varieties. Stone development can be traced back to the Warring States period at least two thousand years ago. The white jade, which is smooth and easy to carve, is the national treasure of the building stone, the palace buildings in the Imperial Palace and other palace buildings in Beijing, as well as the stones of the royal gardens of Old Summer Palace, the Summer Palace, and so on. After the reform and opening up, the carving and stone processing of the white jade in Dashi town have made great progress. The stone carving technology is widely used in modern architecture. It is not only sold all over the country, but also out of the country and sold to many countries and regions in the world. Because of the culture of stone carving, Dashi nest has won the name of "the hometown of stone carving art", "the hometown of calligraphy and painting" and "the hometown of Chinese folk art", in which the stone carving of the stone nest carving family Liu family is highly praised. In August 2004, the NDRC listed it as a small town with characteristics of the national stone carving industry.
