商代石雕
继二里头文化之后，是二里冈文化，代表商代中期的遗存。这时的石器生产仍占重要地位，当时盛行各种陶塑制品，却罕见引人注目的石雕作品。直到殷墟文化时期，进入中国青铜时代的鼎盛阶段，石雕艺术又重新绽放出夺目的光彩。

The famous figure statues of the late Shang Dynasty, as well as the mortar statues from the 1004 Tomb of Houjiazhuang in Anyang, and the 376 stone figures from the Fuhao tomb in Yin Ruins. These characters are carefully depicted and their hairstyles are clearly distinguished. They are the direct manifestations of the social life of ancient sculptors, thus leaving a model for future generations to observe.
商代社会中盛行万物有灵的原始宗教观，动物也是时人崇拜的神灵，因而石雕艺术家尤其善于表现形形色色的动物世界。大型的动物石雕多见于王都安阳殷。侯家庄出土的石鸭，造型粗重，周身有线刻纹饰，是一种不拘泥原形的再创造，其尖喙和突目勾活了猛禽的本质特征和凶狠的个性，其余细部皆被略去，其下双足粗细不一，是为了支撑平衡，也避免了单调感，其身上的羽毛和双翼则用线刻纹表示：这种于圆雕造型中融入图案装饰的手法，是商代雕塑区别于史前雕塑而形成独自风格的显著特点。

The stone duck unearthed in Houjiazhuang is a recreation of the original shape. Its sharp beak and protruding eyes evoke the intrinsic characteristics and ferocious personality of the bird of prey. The rest of the details are omitted. Its feet are different in thickness, so as to support balance and avoid monotony. The two wings are represented by line carving: this method of blending pattern decoration into the round sculpture is a prominent feature of Shang Dynasty sculpture which is different from prehistoric sculpture and forms its own style.
